Little Dolly Clothes Shop's Story

Little Dolly Clothes Shop was launched in September 2009, as a way of providing simple, easy to use, good quality handmade doll's clothes to all little 'mummies' of baby dolls such as Baby Annabell, Baby Born and ELC dolls.

I had already developed the simple design of the clothes a few years before, originally only as a dress, from doll's clothes my daughters already owned- just for them to play with. Using elastic and a single fastening, my little girls were able to dress their 'babies' on their own even at a very young age- meaning that they needed less constant help from me, and became less frustrated during play than they did when attempting to dress their dolls in fiddly, shop bought designs!

Knowing therefore that this simple style of dolly outfit was something that was missing from the general market, I wanted to share my design with other parents and carers and began to look into selling my dresses online. I further developed the design to include other outfits such as tops, trousers and nappies, and then set up this website to enable me to fulfil my dream.

Bedding sets followed as the obvious next step, and the resulting popularity of my items has allowed me to develop further items until the range includes everything on the site today.

Little Dolly Clothes Shop has gone from strength to strength, and continues to evolve. Early 2015 saw the introduction of Velcro as the fastening option, replacing the original popper fastening- making a safer, quicker and easier solution for the youngest of children. This also made for a quicker turn around time for the majority of orders!
Later that same year, I introduced two new sizes alongside the original on a few of my clothes which meant a better fit for smaller dolls- such as Baby Born and Berenguer's La Newborn, without compromising on the key principles of easy dolly dressing. Having proved a popular choice, these days I offer all three sizes as standard on all of my dresses and outfits.

By far the biggest change to date was over the autumn/ winter of 2015 when I put my items through all the rigorous testing needed to enable me to label them with the CE mark for toy safety- a hurdle which, I am pleased to say, my items all passed through with no major issues, and with no alterations needed to the design!

My beautiful logo- designed by my then 13 year old daughter, and a fresh new look for the website followed early in 2016. In 2019 I changed the primary web address to the one used today, to keep the website in line with my Facebook page, Instagram and blog - making for a more cohesive brand, and hopefully one which is more appealing to customers and search engines alike!

For the new decade, Little Dolly Clothes Shop has once more gone through a transformation- with a new website host and brand new look, while keeping to the same colours, and general feel that my shop is known for.

Then, when following on from Brexit a new safety mark- UKCA was introduced for toy sales within and to the UK (except for Northern Ireland), I have obviously followed with re-testing items where neccessary and updating my paperwork to show this. It's a relatively simple, but long drawn out process and is likely to keep me busy for many months- right up until the December 31st 2022 deadline!

However, the end result of all of the above changes and developments, is an online store that I not only get great satisfaction from running, but am very proud to call my own.
